Both today’s strip and next Tuesday’s strip touch on Heart Gold and Soul Silver, as they’re games that really stick in my craw.
What have they really added to these remakes to make them worthwhile? Barely 3D buildings? Allowing a Pokemon to follow you around in the world?
I know that as gamers we’ve come to accept the safest possible choices when it comes to the Pokemon franchise. We know that each iteration is going to be the same as the one before it with a couple of tweaks.
But at this point is it really so much to ask that the battles look like Pokemon Stadium on the N64? Or that the story be deeper and more character driven?
I’m just saying we should expect more from this series that has made so much money for Nintendo that it could afford to take a risk at least once a decade.

If people keep buying the same repackaged product….Nintendo will gladly keep selling it.
People need to vote with their wallets!
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Also they added more then that, see this page.

Tell the bird that 5th gen has been announced.
It sounds like they took Gold and Silver and gave it the same capabilities as the newest Pokemon games. Silver was the last Pokemon game I bought, and I plan to keep it that way until Evan gets his Pokemon MMO.
Ahhh the Pokemon MMO. It’s one of those impossible dreams, like jetpacks or a cure for cancer.
It’s mostly kids who want that on forums, everyone older then 12 shoots it down in about a minute.
