Why won’t they fix the parachute thrusters disappearing act? Just ’cause!
The DLC that was released for Just Cause 2 recently has some issues. First, the plane in the pack can’t do vertical take off and landing, which is something the community has been requesting for some time.
The part that really gets my goat though is that the awesome parachute thrusters disappear every time you die or reload your game. Now you would think, just die less its not that big of a deal. However every time you have to re-order them from the black market menu in-game it costs 50K, which in this game is a fair chunk of change. On every board for the game there’s are posts about how it is a problem that needs to be addressed. We paid two dollars for this DLC and all it appears to have afforded us is the privilege of spending 50 grand over and over again.
The parachute thrusters change the game, but not in the way they should. They should make the game more fun and allow for amazing maneuvers, and they do but the cost of them changes the game in another way. It forces you to evaluate every time you boot up the game whether the missions you want to tackle are worth spending $50,000 to make more fun. You also question whether you’re likely to die in the upcoming mission, as that is a deterrent to purchasing the thrusters as well.
I never used to worry about death in Just Cause 2. Sure, it would mean I was booted back to the last checkpoint or faction base and had to sit through a load, but I wasn’t robbed of anything. Death was almost consequence-free. Now when I die I find myself cursing loudly. Especially at the cheap deaths and there are a lot of them. My favorite is when I’m trying to take off in a jet and as I speed up down the runway I explode for no reason. Thats a controller thrower right there.
The thrusters should be free to buy in the black market if they won’t allow us to just purchase them once and be on our way. Hell I have the fastest plane in the game at max level in the black market and it costs me 20K less than the thrusters and it’ll last me about as long. That ain’t right.

Hodgins, watch this movie. http://screwattack.com/videos/Mega-Man
The hand lettering is totally paying off, and I love the guy’s body language in the third panel.
Thanks Kyle!
Yeah, Ace I just saw that on Joystiq too. I’ll watch it when I a block of free time.
Edit – I have now seen it. Twas completely terrible, except for the okay special effects.
